How a sideloader delivery works

The truck reverses into position beside the drop point, deploys stabiliser legs, and two hydraulic cranes lift the container off the trailer and lower it onto the ground, a slab, plinths or another trailer. A typical lift takes a few minutes once the truck is set up, and the same equipment picks the container back up when it is time to go.

What the site needs

A sideloader needs firm level ground, room to swing the container beside the truck and clear overhead space — no low branches, awnings or power lines above the lift zone. As a rough guide, allow the length of the truck plus a few metres, and about four metres of clear width beside the trailer. Send us photos of the access and we will confirm before booking.

When a sideloader beats a crane or forklift

Hiring a crane means a second contractor, a second booking and a traffic management plan. A sideloader arrives as one unit, does the lift itself and leaves, which usually costs less and removes a coordination step.
